4D Technology

Have you heard there are new gadgets waiting for you at the cinema? Have you ever dreamed of being inside a film? THIS IS THE FUTURE!!!

4D cinemas are the latest addition to the film industry. It is a way of involving you not even with images that can not only make you feel the image jumping from the screen, but even making you feel how the scene smells. Moreover, you can feel the chairs vibrating.

With this new technology, a simple take off could be transformed into an almost ''magical'' experience. You would be able to smell the plains fuel burning in the engine, the speed and the shaking of the seats while taking off, the clouds and the birds floating in the sky, the fog and the rain splashing the glass...

Imagine that sensation.

Now that you have imagined the situation, you could be excited about going to a 4D cinema. However, these new technologies are not available for commercial cinemas. In Spain, it is still in project. The creator of this 4D tech is a Korean cinema chain which, after several successes with some well known titles such as Avatar, have opened 3 more 4D cinemas and exported the idea.

Having a Zoo at Home

Having a pet is a marvelous experience for the people who love animals. Everything starts when you buy it. In my case, I had to convince my parents and assume all the responsibilities before. The first two weeks you are very excited because it is something unusual or you have been waiting for it a long time. Then the thrill start to decrease until:

1. You are fed up because you have to look after it more than you expected.
2. It becomes another normal thing in your life.

Turtles, chickens, hens, fish, silk worms, a dog, a rabbit ... these are some of the animals I have had at home.

I'm going to tell you some of my funny anecdotes.  From my turtles I cannot remember so much because I was a baby. However, my mum tells me that they were very big and they used to escape. One of them was eaten by my dog, the other rushed, and we didn't find the last one.

Boj, my dog was always happy and affectionate with us . We taught him to jump, and as he was very clever, he counted, and when he knew that there was nobody at home, he jumped over the fence.
He loved to eat, sometimes he went to the break of the school near my house and ate the snacks  the children gave to him. When it was too cold outside, we let them enter home. One day while we were sleeping, my dog went upstairs, entered the room of my grandparents and licked the hand of my grandmother. She started to shout at him and he went down quickly.

Another time, on my birthday, the sister of one of my friends came also. She liked the aquarium a lot and while we were playing upstairs, she fed them so much that no one survived. We have had lots of fish from all species, even sharks, snails and prawns of warm water. They  are very colourful, nice to see them... however, I find them a little bit boring.

Have you ever had chickens and hens at home? Not at the village, at the city house? Well, the witty idea came from my father. He asked us if we wanted to have some and we answered “yes, of course!”
We built a big wooden henhouse, then we placed it in the garden and... there we were with chickens! Who could imagine it! We obtained three fresh tasty eggs every day. The problem was that they sang very bad at every hour when they became "teen-chickens". So, my father decided to sacrifice them without telling us anything and gave the hens to a farmer. The following Christmas Eve we ate the roasted chicken without knowing it, when we finish dinner, daddy told us the truth and I felt very bad. Poor Kiriko cock!

Finally, I am going to tell you about my last pet: BambĂș. He is my toy rabbit, he is not going to grow more. He is 1 year old and he is very naughty. The best amusing thing was when he had just arrived, my friends came to see him. As he was very innocent and little, everybody wanted to have one until he crapped in the hand of one of my friends.

I really love him, but since he bit my finger, I am more cautious. It is lovely when he is cleaning himself, when he is eating carrots...

I love animals! And you?

Phablets

The market evolves and new products appear day by day. One of these products are phablets, enormous devices which combine smartphones and tablets.

Phablets can be useful in certain situations but the fact is that phablets were originally created to facilitate sketching, note-taking and annotation. However, most of smartphones nowadays can be included in this category.

And this is something that not everybody likes. Because, when a phone becomes too big to carry it comfortably it also becomes unuseful.

Surely there are smaller devices in the actual market, but, in the recent years the concept of smartphone has changed and, despite the fact that it is creating a great controversy, the market has changed too.

In the past, the smaller and portable a phone was, the better. Nowadays we find phones up to 7 inches which is half a computer screen and exaggeratingly big.

I personally have a 5.5 inches device and however, I’m against phones getting bigger and bigger. As I see it, if we stay like this we will end using phones bigger than us!

Mermaids

Hello bloggers:

There are many researches of the existence of mermaids, but are they real or is verything false?

Mermaids are legendary aquatic creatures with the upper part of the body of a woman and a fish tail. The origin of mermaids can be found in the beliefs of early civilizations, who believed that life came from the sea.

The legend says that Mermaids were creatures half female half bird. They were partners of Persephone, but she was kidnapped by Hades. As they couldn´t save her, Persephone’s mother turned them into half female, half fish, for revenge.

It is said that mermaids lived in Artemisia’s island and they have a melodic singing like birds, in addition they were really attractive and seductive which caught the sailors eye, who felt attracted and incited to hand over to the sea. After being cheated, they were eaten by mermaids.

When I think about mermaids I imagine them as very beautiful women with long and wavy hair and with a colorful tail. Nevertheless, when someone tries to prove the existence of mermaids they are always ugly or deformed.

Many people have said that they have seen a mermaid, so I am going to tell you some of these occurrences.

For instance in 1493 Christopher Columbus said to have seen three female forms on a Caribbean Island, but they were no as pretty as always perceived to be.

During World War II, Japanese soldiers claimed to have seen several mermaids on the shore of Kei Islands in Indonesia. They had human faces and limbs; they also had spikes on their heads and long fins. They claimed to have seen them swimming under water. After this, there were more sightings in this area.

A dead body of a mermaid was found in Marina Beach in 2005 after Tsunami hit the coastal state. It is said that the corpse is preserved in the Egmore museum.

But the most famous mermaid sighting was in Kiryat Yam in Israel in 2009. Several natives have claimed to have seen mermaids; so many tourists come near the coast trying to take a photo of one. As there was so much buzz, the mayor announced a prize of 1 million dollars to anyone who could prove that mermaids were real.

In my opinion, mermaids exist but they are not as we think they are, they don’t want to be exposed so they don’t let themselves be seen. Now, do you really believe in them? Tell me your opinions in the comments down below.

See you, kisses.

The Tragedy of Germanwings

The 27th of March of 2015 a plane crashed in the French Alps.

In the first moment, everyone thought that the plane had fallen because of the age of the plane, which was 24. This was an enormous tragedy because 50 people from Spain died in the precise moment in which the plane crashed.

The police did a great job trying to find the corpses, the belongings of the people and the most important of all, the black box, which reveals what really had happened. They found the first black box and all the speculations changed because they heard how the pilot left the cabin and a later sound of someone trying to open the door.

The airplane started to lose height but people did not notice. At first, the airplane slid on a mountain. In that moment, the first yells of people sounded and finally, they heard a great breath from Andreas Lubitz, who had psychological problems and was the guilty of that horrible tragedy.

The police found in his parents’ house some medicines, such as antidepressants, which means that he suffered a mental illness.

I recognize the great job of the police, the researchers and the psychologist that helped the families to understand what had happened.

Curiosities

Today I am going to talk about some curiosities of the human body. I have chosen certain things that I think are quite interesting.

Alright, I will start with sneezes. Do you hate when someone sneezes and does not cover his mouth? Yes, me too, so let me tell you something. Sneezes travel at 100mph, that is a good reason to cover your mouth.  And as well, this is the reason why you cannot sneeze with your eyes open. I have tried, it is impossible...

Everybody has seen grandparents, I am sure. Have you noticed that some of them have quite big noses and ears? That is because they are continuously growing. However your eyes will be the same size for your entire life from the same moment in which you are born.

This curiosity is a bit bizarre. A human head can be conscious from 15 to 20 seconds after it has been severed. I could not believe it, I thought it only happened in films. I remember one chapter of The Simpsons in which this happened. At first I thought it didn't make sense, but now I think it is quite realistic. This happens because there is enough blood in the head to maintain it conscious for some seconds after it has been cut off.

My last curiosity is that it is impossible to tickle yourself. It is true, I have also tried it. This happens because your brain predicts what your hands are going to do so it does not react. However if someone else tickles you it will work because your brain is not prepared for that.

Fashion is my Kryptonite

Do you like fashion? Do you know the terms elf boots, eye jewelry, facekini, eye tattoos or bagel heads? Whether you like fashion or not you will find the following weird trends very interesting.
Can you imagine getting a piece of platinum jewelry in your eye? Why not? It sounds weird but it is no so strange in places like Rotterdam or New York, where many teenagers have already tried these kinds of accessories.

Another way of changing your eye style is tattooing or dying your cornea. It is now a new trend in Canada. Reasons for this practice include the improvement of sight or a better appearance. The problem is that the process can be very dangerous. Many people have gone blind after the procedure.

Talking about danger, have you ever seen a boy wearing elf boots? It is now part of the Elven outfit. These boots are long, pointy and if you wear them you look like if you were going to punch someone in the ass. It is not a joke, this type of footwear was very popular in Mexico, where it was trendy for a  long time. Initially men wore them to try to impress women but, honestly, I don't think they have have a chance.

If you really want to impress others, just follow the Japanese. Have you ever eaten a doughnut? Well, you don’t have to if you travel to Japan, where you can inject saline into your forehead to make a sort of bagel shape on your face. Although the saline finally gets absorbed into your body, many people have already tried this.

Apart from this, if what you are looking for is to cover your face just put on a facekini. Not a bikini, not a tankini…but a FACEKINI! Actually these facekinis were created to protect people from sunrays, but it is better to buy sun cream because you look like a terrorist if you wear them.
What else will people be able to do in order to attract others' attention?

You will love New York

New York is a very attractive and enormous city. It is considered to be the capital of the world and when you visit the city you realize why people say that. It is very impressive for people that live in small cities because it doesn’t matter where you are that you can see hundreds of skyscrapers. That is what I thought when I arrived the city. I am going to tell you some places that caught my attention when I visited the city.

Central Park is a calm place inside the crowded, busy city. It’s very big. It takes one hour to cross it from side to side. In the park you can watch people playing basketball and baseball which are very common sports in the USA.

The Statue of Liberty is not in the city. It is in the middle of an island. You need to take a boat to reach to the island. Inside the statue there are very long stairs which you can use to reach to the crown of the statue which is the tallest part.

If you Times Square you will be amazed. 1 million people go to this square to celebrate the New Year. It is full of big screens showing advertisements and a lot of colored lights.

And finally, the last place I´m going to talk about is the Empire State building. It is an incredible building which is more than 300 meters tall. It has more than 100 floors and you can take an elevator which takes you to the top in less than one minute. When you are at the top you can see all of the island of Manhattan. It is a magic place.

Hipsters

Hi guys! Have you ever heard of the word hipster, well, you will probably have an small idea of what it is, you will have in mind those typical boys wearing big glasses, long beards, always hearing music with his i-phone while they drink Starbucks coffee. Okay, so this urban culture is now becoming very very popular amongst the young.

The word hipster first appeared a long time ago in the 20th century within the jazz music; this urban culture has a great relationship with the hippies and the indies. The hipsters is an extended group mostly in cities like New York, Chicago or San Francisco.

They are mostly intellectuals that show independent  thoughts and have a special attraction to the artistic world, they love independent cinema and unknown music bands (that probably nobody has never heard) mostly alternative rock. They are always trying to be original and different than everything, refusing the local brands and shops, interested in ecology, freedom and living in his own world. In conclusion, their principal hobbies are cinema; music, arts, photography, travelling and showing their opinions on social networks.

Now I´am going to talk about their estetic; their form of dressing don’t follow an specific line, they wear reuse or vintage clothes they find in retro stores and t- shirts with messages, symbols, animals,or of some music group.  Hipsters don’t wear any make up because they are in favour of natural beauty, moreover, they don’t even brush their hair because they refuse any type of  artifices.(something I like).

In my personal opinion, nowadays there are too many hipsters, or mainly people that want to be like them pretending to be something they are not, so its not really an original or different culture. It is also a great  irony to say they don’t follow any type of fashion when they really are the fashion.

Reading: paper…or e-book?

It is well known that technology has changed our lives and, in most of the cases, for better. But... has it helped in matters of education? Let’s start!

With the advancements of phones and tablets, ebooks have become a popular reading standard. Still, some people argue that there's something about the feeling of an old-fashioned paper book.

So... starting with the advantages of electronic books we find that they are more accessible and portable than traditional books, allowing you to carry your whole library everywhere.

However, as many others say, and this is something I support, the kind of format depends on the kind of book. Probably you won’t mind reading a certain novel on a screen, but, when it comes to some series that you like, you may prefer (as I do) a normal paper book of which from my point of view, is easier and more comfortable to read.

In terms of reading, this may not seem important, but I’m one of those people who feel the weight and touch of a book is a hard opponent for a screen.

On the one hand, ebooks help us to save money and resources, reducing the amount of trees which are cut for us to enjoy a simple book. However, on the other hand, due to the facilities we enjoy nowadays for downloading new books, publishing companies are being damaged both in terms of economics and prestige. With more and more people moving to ebooks and more and more editorials being closed, the decision is yours, screen...or paper?

Ireland

Today, I’m going to talk about a trip I took to Ireland two years ago. I stayed in an Irish house for three weeks. The family was formed by the parents and 3 girls. Although I knew English, the first few days, I didn't understand them. During that period of time, some strange things caught my attention. The culture in Ireland is very different from our culture.

First of all, in Ireland, they eat lunch at the same time as in England. I knew that before. However, when I arrived, it was difficult for me to adapt. They have lunch at 12 o’clock and they have dinner at 6 o’clock. The first few days, when I was going to go bed, I was very hungry. Then, I bought some sweets to eat them at night. I can’t believe how they can go from 6 pm to 7 am without eating.

Furthermore, the food is very different. They eat a lot of fast food and they never eat vegetables. One day, I ate some salad and the little girl asked me “Why are you eating vegetables?” They don’t usually eat bread. They only eat bread when they have pizza, the opposite of us. Another day, they gave me beans with tomato, I thought I wouldn’t like them, but they were very tasty. When I was in Ireland, I used to have lunch in the school. They always gave me a sandwich of ham and cheese, a juice, and chips. I spent 3 weeks having the same lunch. Another thing that surprised me was that they added salt to every single meal.

They play rare games. For example, they hold their breath and turn around. When they stop they fall to the floor. They tried to faint. They asked me if I wanted to try it, but I always said no.

Do you know that children TV programs where they say some English sentences? In Ireland, it’s the opposite. They see TV programs in English where the characters say some Spanish words. One example of these programs is “Dora, the explorer” When I was there, I loved seeing children’s programs, because they were easy to understand, and it was a good way to learn more English.

I think that this is a good experience that everybody should have because you will have fun, and you’ll experience new cultures.
